This logo design was one of the most amusing assignments to date. Mainly because it’s not every day you get to design a logo with fun as the key ingredient. The best part was avoiding the kangaroo and bunny cliches and coming up with a uniquely South African bouncer. Bushbabies fit the bill perfectly – they are very, very cute (apart from the fact that they pee on their hands to improve the stickiness of their grip), and if you have every seen them out of the trees, then you would know…these guys can jump!
Once the logo was nailed down, we moved on to creating giant flags the client could display at various trade shows and events. My favourite is this one
I just loved coming up with the tortoise.
Not every kid is athletic and coordinated, so using an animal that is synonymous with slow and bumbling meant we could visually imply that trampoline jumping was great for anyone.
And it was fun to draw that goofy grin.
Sadly, the company seems to have succumbed to the global financial meltdown, even though the product was great – good quality trampolines with safety netting and pads over the springs. In my opinion – a boon for every parent who has watched their child wobble out of control and taken a nose dive off an trampoline or caught their toes in the springs.
Ah well, Jumpsafe will live on here, despite the fact that I look at the drawing and dislike some aspects of it and know that it would be different if I tackled it now.
That’s just me – I either look back and go – “Heck, I could have done that better” or “How the blazes did I do that?” And despite that – ready to jump into the next creative challenge.
